“Blessed” is a not-for-profit organisation driven by compassion, dedicated to providing essential resources, support, and hope to those facing hardship. “Blessed” is based in Sydney, Australia, and its founders are Mr. Jeffrey Sahyoun and Sr. Rose Therese Tannous. Both Mr. Sahyoun and Sr. Rose, have worked on countless charities in their time, and would like to continue this legacy in doing the works of God.

Mission

Our mission is to embody the teachings of Matthew 25: 31-46

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

We aim to tirelessly serve and uplift the less fortunate families around the world. Our commitment is to foster an environment where love, empathy, and solidarity thrive, transcending borders and making a lasting impact on the lives of the vulnerable.
As God's children, He expects us to help everyone around us, especially the poor. We are called to be humble and generous to everyone, because in sharing our blessings, we are pleasing to God.
Together, we strive to create a brighter, more equitable future for all, guided by the values of faith, kindness, and unity.
As it says in Matthew's Gospel, we are dedicated to alleviating hunger, quenching thirst, providing shelter, clothing the needy, offering care to the sick and extending compassion to those in confinement.
As a crucial part of our mission, we aim to fundraise, declaring annually the purpose for our fundraising activities. By the grace of God, we aim to bring together an army of young brothers and sisters in Christ, taking action to help those in need.
Our objective for the near future is to raise funds for families in need in Lebanon.
We believe that the youth have an important role to play in providing for the needy and showing God our gratitude for the lives we lead in the process. We are going to strive not only to build a platform for the youth to thrive through their charitable works, but to build a foundation whereby young leaders of our communities are formed.

Message from Sister Rose Therese

Founding Member

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ our Lord, my name is Sister Rose Therese Tannous, and I am a Maronite Sister of the Holy Family. With the Grace of God, I was able to start the ecumenical groups, “Family of Divine Word” and “White Stone”, an addiction recovery center. Now, I am blessed to have co-founded “Blessed” with Jeff Sahyoun.

After 10 years in Sydney, I was assigned to continue my missionary work in Lebanon. There, I witnessed Lebanon face numerous tragedies, including the Covid-19 Virus, The Beirut Port Blast and the Economic Crisis. These events took a detrimental toll on the people in Lebanon thus, leading us to provide essential support to the victims and needy families. Generous donations from Sydney helped us offer food, clothes, furniture, medication, and financial aid.

Blessed was born from a desire to assist those in dire need..

It began with a family facing severe financial hardship, about to lose their home, due to a mothers cancer treatment. With the help of donors, especially Jeff Sahyoun, we raised the needed funds. From this, Jeff consistently offered his support, and asked me to help him start a charity.

During my silent retreat, I was reading Matthew 25:31-46 and vision for Blessed came to me and it was as if the Holy Spirit was guiding my hand to write the name, the mission and all the details. Immediately, I responded to Jeff’s request and Blessed was born.

Our mission is twofold; to embody the teachings of Matthew 25:31-46 by tirelessly serving the needy and to provide guidance to young adults to become the leaders of Blessed.

Let us demonstrate our love for our Lord Jesus Christ by serving His brothers and sisters in need. I trust that as you helped freely in the past, you will continue to help through Blessed. Lebanon needs you, especially our Christian families who are struggling to receive education, medical assistance, and all essential needs.

I thank God for inspiring and calling upon Jeff to start this Not-for-Profit Charity Association. I am certain that Jeff, and all donors, will hear the voice of Jesus saying, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” Blessed. Do it for me! Amen
